Setting Up Barcode Label Printing in athenaOne

athenaOne can print a label with the Patient ID as a barcode, allowing the device to scan the Patient ID rather than requiring it to be typed in manually.

Prerequisites

  1. Dymo Label printer needs to be installed (via "ADM" - athenaNet Device Manager)
  2. Dymo Label 30336 - successfully used in testing

Stage One: Build the label

Step 1: Go to Clinical Admin

Step 2: Clinical Paper Forms

Step 3: Add Forms

Step 4: Add/Select Form Attributes

  • Name: Enter the label name
  • Type of paper form: Select "Specimen Label"
  • Barcode format: 128 Auto

Step 5: Form Content

Enter the Magic words that suit your lab's workflow

  • Code text: 
    • Note: This value is required for the workflow with Relaymed

Step 6: Click "Update" then "Save"

 

Stage Two: Perform "Order Route" label mapping

Step 1: Navigate to the Order Routes page

Step 2: Click "edit" next to the Order Type Group that is intended for the Relaymed interface. In this case, "Lab"

 

Step 3: Edit Order Route

  • Dymo Label Form: Select the name of the specimen label that was created on the Clinical Paper Form page. In this example, "Lab specimen label"

Step 4: Click Save

 

Stage Three: Print the label from an order

Step 1: Navigate to the lab order document
Step 2: Select "Office" next to Specimen Collection
Step 3: Select the Document specimen hyperlink next to Specimen
Step 4: Select Print label
