Roche CoaguChek XS Plus
Configuration Guide
Before you start 
What is your setup?
There are two ways to connect the Roche CoaguChek XS Plus to Relaymed:
- USB (Serial)
- Ethernet
Depending on your IT and network configuration, choose one way that works best for you.
USB (Serial)
Docking station > USB (A to B) > PC > Relaymed Software Agent
Prerequisites: Have Roche HBU/BU - Control Panel installed on a PC. Follow Roche Technical notes attached to this guide (page 29). You may need help from your internal IT to complete this.
Ethernet
Docking station > Ethernet > Internal network > Relaymed Software Agent
Prerequisites: Make sure you have the device's docking station Username and Password - this is provided with the handheld base unit docking station or available from Roche Customer Support.
Configuration Overview
- Connect device to the Relaymed Software Agent
- Configure Docking station to connect to the Relaymed Software Agent
- Configure Device patient ID and Operator ID
- Send a test through
Step 1: Connect device to the Relaymed Software Agent
Minimum Relaylink version required 3.3.0
Step 2: Configure docking station to connect to the Relaymed Software Agent
USB (Serial)
Skip this section if your setup is Ethernet
Prerequisites: Have Roche HBU/BU - Control Panel installed on a PC. Follow Roche Technical notes attached to this guide (page 29). You may need help from your internal IT to complete this.
- Ensure "Operation Mode" is set to "Position 1"
Note: The switch is located under a cover on the base of the docking station: - Connect the docking station to the PC
- Open Roche HBU/BU - Control Panel:
- Click "Edit":
- Enter your Relaymed Software Agent host IP and Port (Use 127.0.0.1 if Relaylink is installed on this PC)
- Connect to COM port is enabled
- Click "Apply" (and approve pop up message)
Verify the device is showing as connected on the Relaymed Software Agent
Ethernet
Skip this section if your setup is USB (Serial)
Prerequisites: Make sure you have the device's docking station Username and Password - this is provided with the handheld base unit docking station or available from Roche Customer Support.
- Ensure "Operation Mode" is set to "Position 3"
Note: The switch is located under a cover on the base of the docking station: - Connect the docking station to the workstation via a USB (A to B)
- The Roche CoaguChek XS Plus docking station will appear as an External USB Hard Drive.
- Open BASEConf.xml in your preferred Text Editor (Notepad++ is recommended).
Note: you may need to open the text editor as an administrator (right click > open as an Administrator) - Enter your Username and Password:
- Add the Relaymed Software Agent host details:
- DMSHost: The IP address of the Relaymed Software Agent host machine
- DMSPort: The port number to be used by the device in the Relaymed Software Agent
- Save and Close the XML File
- Eject the docking station external USB disk from the workstation and disconnect the USB cable
- Set "Operation Mode" of the docking station back to "Position 2" (middle) to allow Ethernet communication
- Connect Ethernet cable to the docking station
Verify the device is showing as connected on the Relaymed Software Agent
Step 3: Configure Device patient ID and Operator ID
Patient ID
- Ensure the Roche CoaguChek XS Plus is docked in the docking station and powered on.
- From the Roche CoaguChek XS Plus "Main Menu" select "Setup".
- From the "Setup Menu" select "ID Setup".
- From the "ID Setup Menu" select "Patient".
- On the "Patient ID" screen select the appropriate option.
Note: For Automatic Processing of Patient tests "Required" is recommended. - To save the settings press the "Green Check Mark".
- On the "Patient ID Configuration" screen select the appropriate options for you EHR.
- To save the settings press the "Green Check Mark".Press the "Back Arrow" to return to the "Main Menu".
- The Roche CoaguChek XS Plus device is now correctly configured to transmit Patient ID to Relaymed.
Operator ID
- Ensure the Roche CoaguChek XS Plus is docked in the docking station and powered on.
- From the Roche CoaguChek XS Plus® "Main Menu" select "Setup".
- From the "Setup Menu" select "ID Setup".
- From the "ID Setup Menu" select "Operator".
- On the "Operator ID" screen select the ""Active"" option.
- To save the settings press the "Green Check Mark".
- Press the "Back Arrow" to return to the "Main Menu".
- The Roche CoaguChek XS Plus device is now correctly configured to transmit Operator ID to Relaymed.
Step 4: Send a test through
Verify setup is working by sending a test to Relaymed.
Tests are sent automatically when device is docked.
