Auto-Matching Criteria for Incoming Lab Results Via Unmatched Received Results, Non-eLabs

Auto-Matching Criteria for Incoming Lab Results Via Unmatched Received Results, Non-eLabs

About

OP has implemented a new feature of results auto matching for the results only lab interfaces where results are coming in the Unmatched Received Results tab.

The benefit of this feature is that the results will go straight to the chart ( and Clinical->Received, for the providers to review) instead of the Unmatched Received Results where the user had to do manual result matching.

By default the auto-matching is off for your practice. Please note that the auto-matching if turned on will be turned on for ALL the results only lab interfaces and not just selected lab interfaces.

If you are interested in this feature, please prepare your OP per the below information. Once ready please contact OP Support to turn on the auto-matching .

Before you begin:

  • For a results-only interface where results are imported into the Clinical->Unmatched Received Results,
  • OP will auto-match to the existing open Orders based on the below criteria.
  • Results that do meet the criteria and are auto-matched are viewable in the Results Received/Reviewed tab of the Clinical Work window and in the Patient Chart.
  • Results that do NOT meet the criteria will be present in the Unmatched Received Results tab and manual matching is required.

Criteria for Auto-Matching

  1. Auto-matching is turned on for the practice
  1. Currently, auto matching is OFF for all the OP clients.
  1. Clients have to contact OP support to turn on this feature.
  1. Patient is a match-FN,LN, DOB and Gender
  1. Test id and/or LOINC is a match in OP and in the incoming HL7.
  1. If a Lab is sending test id only in the result message, OP has test id (matched with lab result) and/or LOINC both, result will auto matched by test id.
  1. If a Lab is sending Loinc only in the result message, OP has test id and/or LOINC (matched with lab result) both, the result will be auto matched by Loinc.
  1. If a lab is sending both test id and LOINC code in the result message, the result will ONLY auto match if OP has matching both test id and LOINC code for that order.
  1. Recommended setup under “On adding a new requisition, create the following items” column in the Lab Facilities settings is set to “Requisition and Order”.
  1. Path:Clinical tab > More button (Customize group) > Diagnostic Tests > Lab Facilities > On adding a new requisition create the following items
  1. There is ONLY one open requisition with Order, that exists in the past 30 days when the result was processed which meets the results matching criteria.
  1. Open requisition = Requisition with status of
  1. Pending
  1. Received
  1. Reviewed
  1. Partial Rec'd
  1. Partial Rev'd
  1. Partial Inf'd

  1. If there is an Requisition with blank Order in OP
  1. Assuming criteria#1 through #6 is satisfied.
  1. The first result will get auto matched to the existing order
  1. Subsequent following results for the same order will be auto matched and will be present in the chart as the separate orders
  1. If there is a Requisition with blank Order and blank result line in OP
  1. Assuming criteria#1 through #6 is satisfied.
  1. then the first result will auto-match to the blank order but the user will see a blank Result line for each order in the patient’s chart. This is because the matching is done at the Order level.

  1.
  1. If the Result line is populated with a value in the Result column, then a new order will be created for the auto matched result.
  1. Subsequent following results for the same order will be auto matched and will be present in the chart as the separate order.
  1. If a Requisition only is present in the chart,
  1. Assuming criteria#1 through #6 is satisfied
  1. the user must manually match the first result from the Unmatched Received Results, which will create an entry of the Lab issued requisition ID in OP. Associated incoming results of an Order with a populated Lab issued requisition ID in OP will auto-match as long as subsequent results have not been already present in the Unmatched Received Results.
  1. If there are multiple orders in one Requisition
  1. and only if some orders match, the result will be auto-matched if the matching criteria 1 through 6 above are satisfied for the orders.
  1. And, for the order for which the matching criteria (1 through 6 above) was not satisfied, OP will

auto-create a new order with the result and the already present blank order in the chart will remain as is.

  1. If none of the orders in a requisition satisfies the matching criteria (1 through 6 above) then the result will be present in the Unmatched Received Results and manual matching is required.
